In Elden Ring numerous monsters and gods roam, which you can defeat. Many of them are extremely difficult and require a lot of practice before they can be defeated. However, fans are now crowning the true final boss of the Lands Between, and it doesn’t even have a health bar.
Which opponent are we talking about? It’s not an opponent in the traditional sense, with a moveset, weapons, and combat techniques – no. This is actually about one of the hardest jumping sections in all of Elden Ring. You can find it in the sewers beneath Leyndell.
The Reddit user Faust-li posted a screenshot of the jumping section with the title “FromSoft’s hardest boss. 75% of my deaths are due to him.” With 3597 upvotes (as of January 23, 2025, at 2:02 PM), the community agrees with him.
The reason why the jumping section is so frustrating lies in its design. It consists of a deep abyss of a tower equipped with some wooden beams and coffins. To reach the lowest point, fans must jump on the correct coffins; otherwise, any further progress is fatal.
Jumping section justifiably leads to the worst ending
Why does the jumping section make sense? Many fans agree with the thread creator but still find the purpose of the jumping section appropriately chosen. At the bottom of the tower, players are faced with a sealed door. Behind it lies the three fingers, which will mark you with the mark of the Frenzied Flame – this is required for the worst ending.
Reddit user SongsOfOwls writes: “The fact that they placed the maddening story of the Frenzied Flame behind this platform section can’t be a coincidence.”
apneax3n0n even agrees and adds: “That’s the point: when you reach the bottom of the abyss, you are so angry that the destruction of the whole world is the only acceptable response.”
Other players are puzzled, as they have never died as often in their entire gameplay hours as at this section of Leyndell.
Why are jumping sections so difficult? Not only in Elden Ring do fans complain about frustrating platform sections; in the loot-shooter Destiny 1 & 2, jumping areas alongside secret puzzles were pure horror for fans.
Such sections often require finesse and a good judgment on when to initiate the jump. If you jump too early, you fall. If you jump too late, you fall. When players then have to make a long trek back for another attempt, frustration sets in very quickly.
