Resident Evil is the classic survival horror series by Capcom, where you mostly have to deal with zombies. If you wanted to check out the games, now is the best time to do so. MyMMO editor Nikolas Hernes highly recommends it.
What kind of offer is currently available? There is currently an interesting Humble Bundle for horror fans. With Resident Evil Decades of Horror, you can secure 11 Resident Evil games and some DLCs for just under €28. You will receive the games in a bundle for Steam.
The bundle includes the following games and average playtime according to HowLongToBeat.com:
- Resident Evil: HD Remaster – 11 hours
- Resident Evil 2 (2019) – 9 hours
- Resident Evil 3 (2020) – 6 hours
- Resident Evil 4 (2005) – 15.5 hours
- Resident Evil 5 – 12 hours
- Resident Evil 6 – 21 hours
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – 9.5 hours
- Resident Evil Village – 10 hours
- Resident Evil Zero: HD Remaster – 10 hours
- Resident Evil: Revelations – 8.5 hours
- Resident Evil: Revelations 2 – 10 hours
That amounts to a whopping 120 hours of gameplay that you get for the price. With the DLCs and side content, there are even more hours to add. And it’s worth it because the entire series is really good in several aspects.
A collection of different genres and ideas
Why is the series so good? Resident Evil started as a survival horror series with fixed camera angles. Throughout the series, there have been creepy parts and action-packed ones with various gameplay aspects. Most are in third-person perspective, while 7 and 8 are in first-person. Fans of old-school horror can find games with fixed camera angles in the remakes of part 1 and Zero.
A few years ago, I established the tradition of playing at least one Resident Evil game every Halloween. It’s nice because the parts are relatively short on their own. Plus, depending on my mood, I can choose either an action title or more of a horror title.
When playing through the games, you always notice how you improve. You make better use of the environment, understand the movement of enemies, or utilize resources differently. In various modes outside the story, you can still complete challenges with high scores in many of the games.
Moreover, when you complete a Resident Evil game, that’s just the beginning. Often you can unlock new weapons or modifiers. Who wouldn’t want to play Resident Evil 4 with infinite ammunition and a rocket launcher? Despite the linear story mode, the series always offers the opportunity to get creative with the gameplay.
For many horror fans, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 might also be interesting, but you will have to wait for that: Fans have been waiting for over 14 years for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 – now it’s coming even later than announced
What if you’ve already got some of the games? The bundle is also available with fewer games. If you don’t need Resident Evil 8, you’ll pay less than 20 €. You can even secure 7 games for 10 €. The bundles are a great opportunity for anyone looking to catch up on the series. The offer is valid until September 10, 2024.
