Battlefield 6 takes Portal to a new level and allows you to build your own unique game modes. A YouTuber has now shown what these could look like.
Who is it about?
- jackfrags is a well-known YouTuber with over 4.25 million subscribers, who covers various shooters in his videos.
- He does not have a single game that he consistently focuses on, instead he provides insights into the various shooters on the market, including The Finals, ARC Raiders, and Battlefield 6.
- In his videos, jackfrags does not give tips or showcase strong loadouts. Instead, he provides a platform for new and old games or special game modes and presents them to his audience.
His latest video on YouTube revolves around the Portal mode of Battlefield 6. The developers of the upcoming shooter had him test 7 different game modes within Portal that do not represent a classic “Battlefield experience,” but could be entirely unique games.
Zombies, Only Up! and Counter-Strike in Battlefield 6
What is Portal anyway? In the Portal mode of Battlefield 6, players can customize known game modes individually and host them on separate servers with their own rules. They can change the map by moving constructions or flags and setting special parameters. Additionally, players can create their own game modes that follow their own rules.
What does the YouTuber show about the Portal mode? Within Portal, jackfrags was able to test 7 different game modes – some of which had nothing to do with classic Battlefield gameplay.
The first mode was a kind of Counter-Strike on the map “Dust2”. Here, 5 players per team compete against each other. There are attackers and defenders trying to plant a bomb at one of 2 spots or prevent it. There are no respawns and different weapons must be purchased and are lost upon death.
Another mode resembles the Steam hit “Only Up!”, where players must climb higher over various objects until they reach a goal. On Twitch, there were races between streamers trying to reach the top as quickly as possible.
During the video, jackfrags also shows a kind of “zombie mode”, as known from Call of Duty. Players must defend against waves of enemies and can buy additional weapons and upgrades during the run.
Then the YouTuber showed a PvP mode where you climb over the rooftops of Kairos using parkour techniques to grab and extract a supply drop. He also showcased a mode where players compete against each other in fighter jets in a race, flying through rings in the air and avoiding obstacles.
How does the community react to the video? Many players are amazed by what jackfrags shows in the video. A phrase that comes up particularly often is “Game Changer.” Some users write that Portal in this form could change not only Battlefield but gaming as a whole.
Some fans are convinced that Battlefield 6 could keep players entertained for several years, as there are countless possibilities for new community-created content. Custom modes like “Snipers vs. Runner” and level-Asian races, which have already been very popular in GTA 5, could also be possible in Battlefield. MeinMMO editor Dariusz also believes that with Portal, one could sink hundreds of hours into Battlefield 6 again.
