Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most beautiful games of recent years. A YouTuber has managed to run the game on a mobile phone. However, the final result is not as good as hoped.
What exactly did the YouTuber do? YouTuber Serg Pavlov has managed to play Red Dead Redemption 2 on his Red Magic Pro 9 thanks to a Windows emulator. Yes, the game starts and works, but it is not really “playable.”
The Red Magic Pro 9 currently costs between 649 and 749.99 euros, depending on the model. The device is aimed at active gamers who also want to play on their mobile device. It features an active cooling system. Testers praised its excellent performance, thick battery, and great OLED display. However, the weak selfie camera has received criticism.

How well does the game run? The game works, but it is not fun. The title from Rockstar Games runs at only 10 FPS, and the FPS heavily depends on the area you are currently in. In busy cities, the FPS drop even more.
In the test, it is also noticeable that the game cannot fully utilize the smartphone’s hardware. While the CPU reaches nearly 80% load, the graphics chip works more at 45 to 50% load.
The graphics settings are already at the minimum, and the title hardly runs smoothly. However, in the future, some PC games are expected to come natively to smartphones. For example, Apple confidently stated that the iPhone should become the best gaming console.
By the way, the YouTuber was lucky in his misfortune with Red Dead Redemption 2. God of War wouldn’t even start on the phone.

Streaming as an Alternative Not Available, Steam Deck Offers Better Performance
At the current moment (as of April 2024), Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 are not available through GeForce Now or a comparable streaming provider. With streaming, the server takes over the workload. This allows modern games of high quality to be played on a phone or other streaming device. However, this requires a stable and fast internet connection.
At least the Steam Deck delivers a significantly more stable performance: On average, the Steam Deck achieves about 20 to 25 FPS when you install and want to play the game on Valve’s handheld (via youtube.com).
