Which young LoL pro is it about? The Korean LoL player, Poby, is only 19 years old and has been part of the League of Legends esports scene since August 2021. The midlaner was part of T1’s sister team, arguably the most successful team in LoL. In 2023, Poby played as a substitute for Faker, the midlaner and “Demon King” of T1, for almost a month.
Why is Faker called the Demon King? Fans often refer to the star player as the “unkillable Demon King.” The reason is simple: Faker is not easily taken down, wins many of his 1vs1s in the mid lane, and survives team fights due to his mechanical skills as a player. What does Faker say about the name? In an interview, Faker said that the name is somewhat childish, but he has gotten used to it. Especially when he finishes a game with zero deaths, he feels that the name suits him well.

What does the young pro say about being compared to the legend? In a recent interview with Sheep Esports, Poby answered many questions about the upcoming Worlds on October 14. One of them was how he feels about the comparisons to Faker.
Poby says he is happy about it, even if it’s just memes. While Faker is the GOAT (“Greatest of All Time”), Poby is referred to as GOST (“Greatest of Some Time”). The title of the Demon King has also stuck to Faker’s former substitute. The “killable Demon King” is, like Faker, a strong player, but he is still defeated too often.
What is Poby’s mood before the Worlds? For the first time, Poby can show on the big stage whether he can replace Faker as the GOAT and the unkillable Demon King. Poby himself says he is very excited to meet Faker, but also surprised that he has now reached this point in his career.
