Over the weekend, the fundraising event Loot for the World
took place. Various German Twitch streamers came together to host a show to raise funds. One streamer stood out with a special action: he rode 300 km on a bicycle.
What is this fundraising event? Loot for the World is a fundraising event organized by German-speaking content creators. Influencers, including those from Space Frogs and DoktorFroid, participate every year. This year, the fundraising event will take place on November 8th and 9th, marking its 12th edition, and the group of Twitch streamers was live for a total of 36 hours.
The donations collected this time went to various organizations at once; including Stiftung Zukunft Wald, Sentana Stiftung, and SOS Humanity. Viewers could either send money through the stream or order merchandise. The profits from the sales were given 100% to the donations.
This year, 315,694.28 euros were collected. Overall, Loot for the World has already managed to raise over 3.5 million euros in all the years it has been running.
Twitch streamer rides for 24 hours through Berlin
What is Knirpz doing for donations? The Twitch streamer Leo “Knirpz” was not in the studio like the other participants but was on the bike. He rode through Berlin until he completed 300 km. The distance had to be covered in under 24 hours to receive a very special donation.
Becausе Twitch itself participated in the fundraising action. For every kilometer ridden, Twitch donated 10 dollars, making it 3,020 dollars for 300 km. This is approximately 2,609 euros. The amount was added to the already substantial donation total.
What does the community say? Knirpz’s action also reached the international Twitch community. In a post on Reddit, a clip of the stream was shared, in which Knirpz completes the 300 km.
The comments admire the action:
- 360fov admires Knirpz for his perseverance (source: Reddit): “He is not obligated to accept large donations, BUT considering how much effort he put in to raise these 3,000 dollars while people like Emiru or Asmongold sit at their desks for four hours and earn more than 100 times that… you just have to respect his determination to not see the whole thing so pessimistically!”
- ANiceReprieve is also impressed by the Twitch streamer (source: Reddit): “Pretty impressive. 300 km in 24 hours is no easy task unless you train regularly for long distances.”
- tiggberti criticizes that Twitch did not give more money (source: Reddit): “Great thing. However, extremely cheap of Twitch.”
In addition to Loot for the World, there is also the fundraising action Friendly Fire, which also collects donations from its viewers every year. Twitch streamers also host solo fundraising events.
