In the new battle royale hit Apex Legends, the various legends possess special abilities. Some of these can be combined, as players have now discovered. This makes them even more powerful.
This is how the trick works: You first need both a Gibraltar on your team and a Lifeline. Lifeline is anyway the most popular heroine of the game, so you can likely encounter her on your team even without a pre-made high-tier team.
Lifeline now needs to set up her healing drone D.O.C. This will be the target for Gibraltar’s shield dome. The dome is deployed by Gibraltar throwing a generator onto a target point. If he positions this generator on D.O.C., it serves as the center of the dome.
The catch is that D.O.C. can be moved. If you nudge him, he moves a little in the direction you are running. However, since he carries the shield dome, the shield moves with him.
What is this good for? A portable shield has some advantages. Until now, Gibraltar’s shield has only been really useful for safely regrouping or healing your team. No shot can penetrate the dome, neither from inside nor outside.
If this dome is also movable, you can traverse dangerous terrain without getting caught in a crossfire or ambushed by snipers. You are safe for the duration of the shield and can move slowly to change your position.
A similarly safe method has only been really offered by Wraith so far, who can grant a passage for the team through her ultimate, thus securing the team’s relocation. With this trick, it is now possible even without an ultimate.

What you should pay attention to: If you use the trick, there are a few things you should still keep in mind:
- The shield is large and clearly visible. You won’t be able to traverse an area unnoticed like with Wraith.
- D.O.C. moves only slowly. You have only a few seconds for repositioning.
- Enemy players can still easily enter or exit the dome. You are only safe from shots.
Furthermore, the trick can apparently cause unintended issues, as some Reddit users have found out:
Is the trick intentional? It’s hard to say for sure. In Apex Legends, many crazy possibilities are open for utilizing the legends’ abilities, like Caustic’s gas barrels in a particularly clever kill.
So the fact that they can be chained like this could certainly be intentional. After all, most of the legends’ abilities can also be utilized by opponents, thus not granting an absolute advantage.
