A trainer from Pokémon GO shows his rather unconventional play style. And the community celebrates it.
Every trainer can pursue various goals in Pokémon GO. While some want to have the strongest team with the best attackers in Pokémon GO, others focus on rare monsters or their shiny forms.
A trainer on Reddit now shows how he plays Pokémon GO. And his rather unconventional play style is well received by the community.

What has the player achieved? If you look at your account information in the character window, you will find here, in addition to information about your start date, your collected experience points, or the kilometers you have traveled, another number: the number of Pokémon caught by you.
The trainer from Reddit has set himself the goal of not increasing this number. In other words, he has only a 1 here because the starter monster in Pokémon GO must be caught to play the game. Other than that, he hasn’t caught any other Pokémon – and still has reached level 40.
How does the trainer play? As the trainer explains in his post, he only uses raids and mega raids to gain experience points, without catching the Pokémon afterward.
Moreover, he hatches eggs. Because hatched Pokémon do not count in the statistics of caught monsters. This way, he still gets new monsters that he can use for completing raids.
Dynamax raids are not an option for him, as he would first need to catch the Dynamax Wolly to participate in those raids.

Why does the trainer play this way? In the comments, the trainer is also asked why he chose this play style. He replies:
“This is just my personal feeling – when I watched the series as a child, it was something special because Ash had about six Pokémon and a buddy who was supposed to be something special. In Pokémon GO, you catch thousands of monsters, and it never felt exclusive to me.”
