JayzTwoCents will find out how much the temperature of a room affects a computer. His test results confirm his assumptions.
JayzTwoCents is one of the most well-known tech YouTubers. With around 4 million subscribers, each of his videos gets between 200,000 and 300,000 views. In the tech field, JayzTwoCents is one of the most recognized YouTubers alongside Linus Tech Tips. Due to health issues, JayzTwoCents wanted to work a bit slower and publish less content.
What did he test? In a video, he wanted to find out how much the temperature in a living room affects the cooling performance of a running gaming PC. He hypothesized: If it gets warmer in the room, the gaming PC should also get warmer. For the test, he uses the following hardware:
- CPU: i9-13900K processor
- GPU: EVGA RTX 3090
- Motherboard: Z790 UD Series Gigabyte
- Cooler: Noctua D15S Chromax
- Case: Lian Li LANCOOL 216
He explains that he chose an Intel CPU because it produces heat accordingly. AMD CPUs operate significantly more efficiently and produce less heat.
Temperatures increase in parallel with the room and decrease again – YouTuber feels confirmed
These are the results:
- In the first test, he cools his room to 16.4 degrees with an air conditioner. The temperature of his RTX 3090 is 56 degrees here.
- In the second test, he increased the temperature in the room to 30 degrees. The temperature of the graphics card rose to 69 degrees in this test.
- The difference between the two tests is 1.6 degrees
In the comparison between the two temperatures, the heat changes very consistently. JayzCent explains that the difference in his test is 1.6 degrees; otherwise, the temperature in the room and in the computer adjusted consistently to each other.
He explains the 1.6 degrees difference by saying that he cannot provide absolute accuracy with his tests because he does not have precise measuring devices for it.
What is the result? The YouTuber explains that the temperature depends on the room. He himself states in the conclusion of his video: “Better cooling does not help if the environment is bad.”
If your room is cold, then the temperatures inside your PC will also not be that high. However, if you heat your room strongly or your room heats up significantly in summer, the temperatures in your computer will also rise accordingly. The lower the temperatures in your room, the better the cooling.
A player has taken the idea further that a cold outdoor temperature could also be good for his gaming PC. For this reason, he put his PC in the icy snow. But this does not only lead to excitement. Some even believe that he could ruin his PC with this: Player places his gaming PC in the icy snow, lets it cool there – Others mock: “Never seen something so stupid”
