In 2024, many fans of gritty superhero series can enjoy the fourth season of The Boys. However, it will take a while before it continues, and in the meantime, another series can shorten the wait. Invincible on Amazon Prime is even rated better than The Boys.
What is Invincible? Invincible is based on the comic of the same name by Robert Kirkman, who is also responsible for the Walking Dead comics. Invincible is about Mark Grayson. At first glance, he seems like a normal teenager, except for the fact that his father is the great Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on Earth.
One day, Mark also gets superpowers and trains to become like his father, but things become more complicated than expected.
Despite the look reminiscent of good animated series, Invincible is a superhero series for adults and does not shy away from explicit depictions of action and violence. Nevertheless, the series always remains human.

What makes the series so good? Similar to The Boys, Invincible poses the question of what would happen if powerful superheroes suddenly turned evil. However, the series is not on a satirical level like The Boys. Invincible focuses intensely on the characters and their relationships.
No one is simply evil, and even the strongest heroes are plagued by self-doubt and personal issues. A nice element is that we also get to see a lot of Mark’s high school and college life. This makes him feel more human. This reminds one of aspects known from various Spider-Man productions.
But the action is also worth watching. The fights are explicit, and one constantly feels the consequences. Deaths are shocking, and every fight feels serious and weighty. At the same time, the characters feel human. You empathize with them because you may have experienced similar things.
How do critics rate Invincible? On Rotten Tomatoes, Invincible has a rating of 99% based on over 120 reviews. The audience score is 88%. This is even better than The Boys, which on Rotten Tomatoes has a “mere” 93% from nearly 400 critiques. Among regular viewers, the series only achieves 76%.
When will Invincible continue? Currently, Invincible has 2 seasons that can be watched on Amazon Prime Video with a subscription. As announced on X.com, the series will return on February 6, 2025, with the 3rd season.
