Fallout 76 has received a small “Quality of Life” feature in the latest update. It’s nothing more than a detail, but fans are very happy about it.
What is this detail? In the latest patch 8 for Fallout 76 from April 9, 2019, Bethesda introduced the feature that favorites are no longer dismantled directly at workbenches when selected.
Now, when a favored weapon is dismantled at a workbench, the player must first confirm this. A window appears informing that one is dismantling a favorite. One can then confirm or decline.
Together with the new change that players can name their items, this aims to prevent favored weapons from being accidentally turned into scrap.

Why is this a big deal? In Fallout 76, players can accumulate a vast amount of loot. Especially when spending a longer time in Appalachia or facing bosses like the new Sheepsquatch, the inventory fills up quickly.
There can be situations where identical weapons clog the inventory. Players tend to just keep hitting “Dismantle”. In the past, it frequently happened that favorites were dismantled when they slipped in between.
On reddit, a corresponding thread quickly amassed many upvotes. Fans responded happily:
Whoa! Why is no one else talking about this?! This is great news!

Some point out that this did not apply to legendary items often used by stronger players anyway. But for many, this change is a reason to celebrate.
This is what fans wish for now: Currently, this feature only applies to favorites. However, players hope that a confirmation will also apply to other items such as:
- currently equipped items
- individually named items
The problem is that armor can still be accidentally scrapped. Typically, no one adds armor to their favorites bar. However, some players have already experienced accidentally destroying strong armor or underarmor.
What do you think of the change?
Many weapons themselves were already adjusted in patch 7:
