In Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 3, there are new challenges that you have to complete weekly. One challenge took MeinMMO author Eilyn Rapp right back to the best times of Fortnite just by reading it.
What is this challenge about? In the 4th week of Season 3 in Fortnite, there is a mission where you need to dance in front of a camera for 10 seconds. It’s actually a pretty simple task, unless some nasty opponents get in the way.
To do this, you equip an emote, stand in front of the camera, and then dance for 10 seconds. In the list of emotes and dances, you should be able to find a suitable one.
That rings a bell!
When I read this task, it instantly reminded me of a challenge that had to be completed in the same way. Back in Season 4 Chapter 1, you had to dance in front of various film cameras.
But I particularly remembered one place: Moisty Mire. The swamp underwent a change in Season 4 and became a film set. This awakened nostalgia for Season 4, when superheroes and villains battled each other after a meteor struck the island.
But as it turned out, it was all just acting for a movie and the heroes and villains were the protagonists.
Ah, those glorious times when loading screens and changes to the map told a real story. How we dove into the newly introduced bounce pads scattered around the ruined Dusty Depot that allowed us to “glide”.
Those times when you could prove yourself by being the last one out of Tilted Towers because half the lobby landed there.
Yes, back then Fortnite was still simple and it didn’t take much to achieve a victory. If you could build back then, you were an absolute pro, and there was really no chance against you, but those were quite rare.
These times are missing in Fortnite
I fondly remember that time when it felt like everyone on my friends list played Fortnite every day and you always found new friends to play with.
How motivated I always was when a new week started and we could complete challenges to finally level up the Battle Pass. Back then, I even proudly showcased the Omega skin, which was the only male skin I ever used in the game.
Sure, Fortnite can still be fun today, but the joy and motivation I felt back in Season 4 isn’t quite the same anymore. Nowadays, I mostly play alone and only complete challenges on the side.
Sometimes I wish I could rewind time for just a moment. Still, the memories of my best times in Fortnite and those little challenges remind me of that again.
But one thing is getting better every season in Fortnite: The live events. As a big fan of these events, I can only say that I’m glad Fortnite has evolved so much in this regard. My favorite event so far is the “Travis Scott” concert, which was truly epic.
