Borderlands 4 had a successful but bumpy launch, mainly due to its performance and some bugs. One of these bugs is so bad that it can ruin your entire trophy run if you’re not careful.
Which trophy is affected? It is the secret trophy “Everything Must Go”, which you can obtain through the side quest “Everything off the Rack”. The quest sends you on a journey to find various machines from Zane, all of which are connected to a puzzle. You must either sell or buy weapons in specific sequences.
At the end, there is a chance to grab a secret item that you must then deliver to Zane – a romantic photo of Zane and Levaine. The problem is that the quest is bugged and so tricky that you can miss the trophy despite being cautious. We will show you how to prevent this.
A free Legendary or a romantic photo
How can I prevent the bug? Out of caution, you should create a backup of your save game, as the quest cannot be repeated.
Towards the end of the quest, you will reach a hidden cave with the vault hunters to one of the last machines. As usual, Zane has turned it into a death machine that you must destroy. Once the machine is broken, you can now purchase a Legendary for $1, but this is where you need to be careful. Do NOT interact with the machine.
Do not buy a weapon and instead go to the position where the machine stood – you will find a wooden board with a final riddle. You must have seen the riddle in order to input it; otherwise, the input may not work.
Now interact with the riddle and sell 3 green weapons, then subsequently buy the Legendary of your choice. The entry is now successful, and the robot should spit out the photo. There is a bug where the robot still does not spit out the photo. In that case, end your session, go to the menu, and log back in – the photo should now be on the ground.
Apart from the bug, you can also mess up the trophy by immediately acquiring a Legendary. Another mistake, as in my case, would be if you open the machine and close the shop window without making a purchase. This immediately ends the quest, and you lose the Legendary and the photo.
I hope I could spare you from a nasty error, so you are not, like me, doomed to start a new character. You could also, if you messed up the quest, finish it in co-op with a friend. However, your friend must still have the quest active – the progress should also count for you upon completion.
