Anyone who has been playing World of Warcraft for many years has certainly experienced the special customer service of the MMORPG. The response of a current Game Master reminds one of that time.
What do people associate today with Blizzard’s customer service? In recent years, reports from the WoW community have accumulated regarding significantly delayed responses, insufficient assistance, and automated responses that could also come from an AI.
No wonder, since Blizzard has repeatedly made drastic cuts in customer support. The worst was probably the closure of the location in Versailles five years ago. Because for years, it housed the European offices for marketing, customer support, and translations.

What does a player report now? That one can still have positive experiences with WoW support today is shown by the report from Copy_Kat on Reddit. The player explains that he accidentally crafted a leather armor piece for his Death Knight.
His path then took him to customer support, in hopes of getting back the materials or receiving the intended item.
In his response, Game Master Aneb’roonro points out that there is usually a rule not to comply with such requests. However, he would make an exception in this case, as he considers the time the player must have invested in gathering the materials.
Therefore, he sent the player the Spark of Starlight and the other materials via in-game mail so that he could now craft the correct item. Copy_Kat celebrates this solution as a “rare victory” for Blizzard support: “Looks like there are still some humans working at Blizzard.”
How does the community react to this? With more than 1,100 upvotes and over 140 comments. Many players point out in their comments that this type of personal communication and assistance used to be the standard at Blizzard customer service.
- Lyion writes on Reddit: “This type of customer support was always present back in WoW.”
- Ok-Ability5362 underscores this on Reddit: “This is how support used to look, I remember something similar happened to me during the Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK). I called them (yes, they had a phone number back then!). A Game Master (GM) came directly to my character in the game and solved the problem for me.”
- kthegamergirl celebrates the Blizzard employee on Reddit: “A salute to Broon for this legendary customer service response!”
- Nathund advocates on Reddit for a reward: “I hope Broon receives a bonus for this post.”
