A mega evolution of a monster in Pokémon GO makes it onto the current loading screen in the game. However, the sunset light brings up a 10-year-old question that players didn’t expect… or want.
What are players questioning? The current loading screen in Pokémon GO features a mega Metagross enveloped in warm light by the low-hanging sun in the background. The Pokémon is showcased as part of the raid day on October 4th, when mega Metagross also debuted.
However, a discussion arising from the loading screen in the game is not warmly welcomed by the community given the reactions.
On Reddit, the player TheThingGoes posts the loading screen with the appropriate image that brings up an old question: Is the Metagross in the picture blue and white or in its shiny form, that is, white and gold?
Metagross recalls a controversial piece of clothing from 2015
What does this question remind us of? The player’s question triggers several reactions among players for good reason. Back in 2015, a similar discussion arose over a picture of a real dispute. The picture shows a dress that possesses two different colors. However, it remained controversial whether the dress was blue-black or white-gold.

Instead of a discussion that should answer the trainer’s question, the community’s reactions show more of a shared capitulation: “Oh no, we are not doing this again,” writes jngrln on Reddit, who, with 655 upvotes, represents a multitude of opinions all of which do not want to initiate this dispute again.
But what is the correct answer now? In fact, there is an early hint regarding which variant of a Metagross it really is, unlike the dispute over the colors of the dress. The decisive aspect lies in the mega variant of the Pokémon.

While the normal versions of Metagross are blue-white or in the shiny variant white-gold, as the player also framed in his question, the Metagross in the loading screen is not a normal Metagross, but its mega evolution.
The shiny variant of a mega Metagross has a blue cross on its face, not a golden one, as in its regular form.
Therefore, both variants from TheThingGoes are incorrect. The image shows not a shiny mega Metagross, but a regular mega Metagross – in blue and gold.
Next, a different Pokémon besides Metagross or mega Metagross plays a role in Pokémon GO. In the next spotlight hour, which takes place tomorrow, October 7th, another steel Pokémon will be in focus.
