Games are becoming increasingly expensive, which is why some prefer to look for used versions. A Reddit user wanted to buy a racing game for the PS5, but then realized that he still has to spend quite a bit for it.
What bargain is it about? In times when games are getting more expensive, some players try to acquire used versions of titles cheaply. Recently, especially Nintendo’s pricing policy has been in the spotlight: A new game like Mario Kart World costs physically 89.99 €, digitally still 79.99 € (via store.nintendo.de).
A Reddit user wanted to get the 2022 released Gran Turismo 7. To do this, he went to a Gamestop branch and found a copy. However, he expresses in his post his shock at how expensive the used version is.
It costs 59.99 dollars at Gamestop, which is about 52 euros. If you are a Pro Member at Gamestop, you pay a few euros less. Nevertheless, the offer caused the user frustration, which was the reason for his post on Reddit. The community is discussing passionately under the post.
How much should a used game cost?
What are the users discussing? On Reddit, the community is divided into several camps. On one hand, there are those who agree with the user in his frustration and name other examples of games that still cost a lot despite their age. Among them is also the infamous Gollum game, which the user Fury_Blackwolf discovered at the vendor Power Store at full price.
Other users, however, believe that three years is not old for a game and that Gran Turismo 7 in particular is still great:

A third group finds the criticism questionable:
- “Why would you even go to Gamestop? What decade are we in? You get what you deserve,” writes cache_me_0utside.
- “I’m shocked that people don’t understand Gamestop’s business model,” says Merc_Mouth.
- “You don’t have to buy it,” says grub4rrr – an opinion shared by some other users.
Other users refer to offers for the game on Ebay, where it would be even cheaper. The title costs new in the PS5 store 79.99 €.
