In Old School RuneScape, a player has made it his mission to eat 500,000 fish. While the community supports him in his mission, he is also faced with accusations of market manipulation.
What is the player planning? In Old School RuneScape, there are quite a few more or less crazy goals. One player has now taken on the mission to eat 500,000 trout in the game. For this, he receives the nickname “Troutman” from the community in the game.
Although there is no title for this in the game or anything similar, many players celebrate the self-imposed goal and help with his mission.
Here you can watch a trailer for the game:
Much support despite accusations
How is the community helping the “Troutman”? The Troutman, who is actually found in the game under the username Lousifer, is getting a lot of help from other players in the MMORPG. In order to eat 500,000 trout, he first needs to have them in his inventory.
To ensure that the mission does not take a decade, he would have to buy the trout accordingly or receive them as gifts from other players. The latter is happening every day in RuneScape. A crowd of players gathers around Lousifer, following him and supplying him daily with new trout that he can consume.
In the process, he also drives prices up and causes accusations.
What are these accusations? Although the Troutman has become somewhat of an attraction in RuneScape, there are also opponents of his cult. They believe the player might manipulate the market. For example, he could sell fish with another account or even reoffer fish that are given to him back on the marketplace.
His actions have certainly driven the price of trout in the MMORPG up, as the website osrs.exchange proves. While the fish were previously sold for around 40 gold, the selling price is currently at 104 gold. Some of his fans are likely buying the trout to gift to him.
Whether the player is actually selling the fish instead of eating them is unproven. He is probably just one of the many quirky players of RuneScape. Other players have not eaten fish but have fished for a special item for 2 years: Players farm for 2 years at a spot in an MMORPG, find the rarest item there, but it is worthless
