Fans have been eagerly awaiting the most wanted game on Steam, which is set to be released later this year. An enthusiastic player has already managed to set a speedrun record for Hollow Knight: Silksong – and this, despite the fact that the game isn’t even out yet.
How did the player set the record? The mentioned player and YouTuber BlueSR accomplished two things that might seem impossible at first. He managed to play Hollow Knight: Silksong a total of 6 times at this year’s gamescom 2025, which is already impressive given the number of eager fans and the corresponding high attendance.
However, he also managed to set the first speedrun world record for the game simultaneously. He shared his attempts on his YouTube channel, where he refers to himself as “Hollow Knight Speedrunner”.

A speedrun that will remain unbeaten at least until September 4, 2025
What is the exact record? BlueSR spent the first two runs of the game traversing the “Deep Docks” environment as quickly as possible, achieving a time of 2 minutes and 26 seconds. This is currently regarded as the best time in this speedrun category. He himself describes the record run in his YouTube video as “pretty okay”, as it wasn’t completely flawless and he was “forced to play with a controller”.

A few days later, he attempted a speedrun of the entire demo, including both environments and collectible items. For the items he accidentally missed, he added a penalty of 6 additional seconds to his final time. Thus, with his sixth attempt, he achieved a time of 10 minutes and 36 seconds. He also shared this on YouTube.
Until the official release of the game, he will be regarded as the unbeaten record holder. It couldn’t be otherwise, as no one else will likely be able to play the demo until then.
