This week there were some news about Final Fantasy XIV and WoW. However, things were a bit quieter among the indie titles. We at MeinMMO summarize everything important from the MMORPG world.
The highlights of the week:
- Free-dial Olzo is the first player in FFXIV to collect all achievements. Now Yoshida promised to create a new challenge especially for him if he wants it.
- The Quinfall is always referred to as the MMORPG that sounds too good to be true. Now it has announced the specific date for the start of the beta on Steam.
- Next weekend, BlizzCon will take place, where the next WoW expansion will be announced. We have summarized everything for you: BlizzCon 2023 – What you should expect and how you can watch for free.
The week in the podcast: In their own podcast MMO News, the two MeinMMO editors Alexander Leitsch and Mark Sellner talk again this week about the most important news surrounding MMORPGs. Topics included the upcoming patch in Guild Wars 2, the information from the fan fest at Final Fantasy XIV, and small news about a total of 10 indie titles.

WoW is good, but not; Pantheon gets a standalone game
What happened with the big MMORPGs:
- There is a new leak about the upcoming WoW addon, in which the “Avaloren” theory is confirmed. Additionally, the cinematic for the upcoming boss Fyrakk was shown, which many find much better than the Jailer from Shadowlands. WoW will also implement some changes to the upgrade system with the next patch.
- Yoshida played FFXIV together with Final Fantasy creator Sakaguchi and was trolled hard by him. Furthermore, Yoshida commented at the fan fest on numerous player ideas for his MMORPG. He liked the freedom from Ultima Online a lot but believes it would destroy the community of his game.
- Guild Wars 2 discussed the next patch in a new developer letter. It is set to be released on November 7, bringing a new area and numerous changes. Additionally, there was a preview of the next two quarterly updates, adjustments in WvW, and a newcomer event in November (via GW2).
- ESO has announced the new daily login rewards for November (via ESO). Additionally, on Monday, October 30, the Endless Archive starts.
- In Lost Ark, the community is currently discussing the Honing nerf and the adjustments to the elixirs in Korea. The second part of the October update was also released (via Lost Ark).
What happened with the small MMORPGs:
- Book of Travels, a very special Tiny Online RPG, has announced the “largest content patch yet.” This will bring new locations, events, achievements, and a revamp of the death system (via press release).
- The old MMORPG Legend of Edda, which was discontinued in 2014, has now re-emerged under the subtitle Pegasus with new management (via MassivelyOP).
- Tarisland, which reminds of a China WoW, has announced significant adjustments in PvE. Alongside a new, easier game mode for raids, large balance adjustments are also planned (via Tarisland). The next beta is set to start in November.
- Eternal Tombs, the new MMORPG that is controlled and changed by Game Masters, has released its first raid test gameplay. We have embedded the video for you here:
What happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- Havenhold is a new MMORPG where you must build your own fortresses and defend them against attackers. It sounds very much like the original idea of New World.
- Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen will indeed get a detached game mode. Under the project name 247, an extraction game is coming that will initially only be unlocked for those who have purchased at least a $750 package from Pantheon (via Pantheon).
- Pax Dei has presented its fairly detailed character editor in a video.
- Corepunk is planning its next testing phase for November 4 and this time wants to invite not 23, but over a hundred players (via Corepunk).
