A player wants to help an acquaintance and offers him accommodation. He thanks him for his help by deliberately damaging his computer severely. His harsh conclusion from the story: Never help anyone if no one else does.
On reddit, a player complains about an acquaintance who displayed an incredible rage for destruction instead of gratitude. This was because he had offered the acquaintance a place to sleep. But when the player returned home, his gaming PC was dead and valuable hardware was stolen.
Perpetrator willfully destroys gaming PC and steals additional hardware
What did the guy do? On the one hand, he probably stole the player’s gaming chair. But according to the thread starter, that is no big drama:
- The guy violently ripped off several capacitors from the motherboard of the PC.
- After an initial test and another crash, he then discovered that a capacitor was also missing from his graphics card. By the way, the capacitors could not be found anywhere.
- Only after he had replaced the motherboard and the graphics card did the computer finally start up again properly.
Why was he after the capacitors? A user explains that broken or destroyed capacitors are difficult to identify as faults because diagnostic programs usually do not detect such errors. Therefore, the act does not seem like a random act but rather as if the perpetrator knew exactly what he was doing.
Another user adds warningly: If the guy knew that he could make life difficult for someone this way, then he should also worry about possible malware that might have been installed on his PC.
Why did he even let the guy into the apartment? The user explained that the guy had been the best friend of his roommate, and that was why they had tolerated him. By now, he certainly had been the best friend. Because he not only stole an Xbox Series S from him but also took his ROG Ally.
How did the situation end? He confronted the perpetrator with the problems, and he admitted everything. The player then called the police and filed a report for property damage. He himself is still quite stunned because actually, nothing had happened between the two: There had been no argument or any other reason for such a severe reaction:
Why did he do that? He didn’t want to answer. I guess I’ll hopefully find out the reasons in court. We didn’t get into an argument, and at this point, there seems to be no reason.

The moral of the story. Never help someone if no one else does. I give you a place where you can lie down, shower, cook, and feel safe, and that’s how you repay me. An absolute jerk.
