In Fortnite: Battle Royale is getting a quick, small update to Patch 9.30 today. It comes without downtime and could bring a curious new item.
When is the patch coming? Following the previous content updates for Patch 9.30 being released at short notice, this also applies to the current update. According to a Twitter message from Epic, it should arrive today, on July 9, 2019, at 14:00 our time on the servers.
How long will the downtime be? Here we have good news, because just like before, it is not necessary to take the servers offline for the patch. The update will be applied live to the servers without maintenance time or downtime.
Is an airstrike grenade coming?
What could be in the patch? Curiously, nothing has been revealed in the announcements about the planned contents of the update. Is it just a pure service patch that only fixes bugs and improves performance?
Leaks from the community contradict this, reporting on a planned item that works like a grenade. But instead of exploding itself, it would call in an airstrike, bombarding the area with an aerial assault.
This aligns with Epic’s announcement in the tweet, which promotes “get ready for an explosive time.” So a new, explosive item could indeed be coming. However, it could also just be a game mode where more explosive items are available.
How fans are reacting: The idea that Fortnite might get another explosive item isn’t being well received by all players. Some fans have complained in the Twitter post that the game doesn’t need another such item.
Others, however, are excited to blow up their opponents even more. Especially in the squad mode, such an item could create even more fun chaos.
We will know more when the patch arrives at 14:00. The patch notes will follow as soon as possible in another post.
