A new Soulslike on Steam relies on an Italian setting – But it misses a great opportunity with weapons

Enotria: The Last Song has brought its dark setting to Steam and PS5 and is doing quite well so far. However, some fans are disappointed with the weapon arsenal, as an iconic weapon class is missing.

What kind of game is this? Enotria: The Last Song is an action RPG with a colorful yet dark Souls-like setting. The game is developed by the Italy-based studio Jyamma Games.

The world of Enotria is trapped in an eternal game that can only be broken by you. As “Maskless,” you are not bound by a destiny and can take on the powerful authors of the game.

The game will be released on September 19, 2024, for PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as for the consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. In a new trailer, the developers have already introduced the various weapon classes of the game.

With seven different weapons through Enotria

What weapons are available? Enotria: The Last Song offers seven weapon classes, each supporting its own playstyle:

• Polearms
• Longsword
• Greatsword
• Saber
• Mace
• Colossal Greatsword
• Colossal Hammer

With the saber, you can deliver quick strikes, but it will also knock your opponents down less. The exact opposite is the colossal hammer – in the trailer, this was a column foot attached to a long handle.

Players miss a certain weapon type

One weapon class is missing for some players – the rapier or small sword. This is doubly important: The rapier would have provided excellent thrusting capabilities in a weapon arsenal that seems heavily focused on slashes, adding more variety. Moreover, the rapier is unmistakably associated with the time in Italy from which the developers took inspiration.

Accordingly, some players express their dismay in the comments under the video on YouTube about the missing rapier:

• Neniam: ‘You need to add rapiers’
