On Steam, a new shooter is currently thrilling its players with creative mods for your weapons. One rewards you with a larger magazine if you forgo sleep and play the game at night.
Which shooter is that? It’s called VOID/BREAKER and was released on August 19, 2025, on Steam. It is a pure single-player shooter, with no PvP or co-op – but it features roguelite elements and crazy weapon mods.
Homing ammunition for your weapon? Only with Motion Blur
What are mods? Modifiers (short mods) are special adjustments in video games – especially in shooters – that change how a weapon functions. They are not just simple upgrades like: “10% more damage”.
VOID/BREAKER specifically focuses on mods that can influence the gaming experience in unusual ways. Players share some of them under a now-deleted Reddit post with 16,000 likes on r/gaming. And their effects are truly creative:
- The post by Reddit user Leonbacon showed a mod that enlarges your weapon’s magazine when you lower the game’s resolution (the screenshot can be seen here on Reddit)
- UnsorryCanadian enthusiastically wrote: “You mean I get more frames AND more damage? I play at 640x480p, the resolution of the lord!” (Reddit)
- A user found an “absolutely diabolical” mod that gives your weapon homing projectiles if you enable Motion Blur in the graphics options. (Reddit)
- Another player found a mod that gave him more damage and a larger magazine between 12 and 6 o’clock (with the description: “Go to bed”). “Then I knew this was a special game,” he says on Reddit.
How is the shooter currently received? On Steam, 460 players have left a review so far, of which 94% are positive. The shooter is doing really well, even though it hasn’t reached so many players yet. The peak simultaneous players on Steam, according to steamdb.info, is at 1,086 players.
VOID/BREAKER is currently still in Early Access. So don’t expect a finished product, even though according to a Steam review it is “surprisingly stable and diverse for an Early Access game”. The game currently costs €16.19, and the standard price is €17.99.
