Fan group wants to revive the hero shooter, but they are simultaneously afraid of Sony’s lawyers
Who is behind this? Fans, of whom Concord doesn’t have many, want to make the game playable again. A small group has been working on the project for months, and now full matches are playable on the servers again. PCGamer quotes developer Red from the Concord Delta Discord: “The project is still in progress. It’s playable, but buggy.”
What is a problem? The developers emphasize that only people who have a legal copy of the game can play. However, Sony had largely refunded most players for the game. How many players still have a legal copy in the end is unknown. Developer Red stated that they do not want to tolerate and cannot have illegal copies, as it could endanger their project:
I know this is frustrating for those who were forced to get their money refunded, but lawyers are probably already watching everything we do, and I want to ensure that this project remains as legal as possible. We will remove any contributions that contain links to copyrighted files.
Therefore, the game is likely to end up being a tiny niche project for a handful of players, provided it is tolerated by Sony.
