A new game with dinosaurs is on the horizon. However, it is set to be released only for PS5, not for PC. The reason for this, as the developers announced, is due to mods, and not just any mods.
What kind of game is it? We are talking about Code Violet, which may be particularly interesting for fans of Dino Crisis. It is a survival horror game in which players take on the role of the protagonist to battle various dinosaurs. It seems that Dino Crisis itself will not receive a sequel any time soon – possibly due to Monster Hunter.
In Code Violet, you find yourself in the future of the 25th century in a world that has rendered Planet Earth uninhabitable. However, a handful of survivors refuse to give up.
Code Violet is set to be released in July 2025 for PS5. Those wondering whether the game will also be available for PC will now be disappointed. The developers have announced that this will not be the case – for a simple reason.
Here you can see the trailer for the game:
Mods and their endless possibilities…
Why is the game not coming to PC? The developers announced on x.com that there will be no PC version because mods exist on that platform. This could allow users to alter the game in ways that the developers do not approve of.
Specifically, they addressed vulgar content in their post. The studio TeamKill Media does not want their protagonist or other characters from Code Violet to be inappropriately altered through mods.
The developers further explain:
We greatly value our voice actors and actresses as well as our artistic vision for the game and its story, and we refuse to let this be undermined in any way by sexual mods. Making our art ridiculous and potentially harming the reputation of our voice actors and actresses is not worth the extra money we could earn.

The stance is quite clear. Code Violet will not be available on PC. However, the developers felt compelled in a follow-up post on x.com to further clarify their position.
They emphasize that they have nothing against PC gamers in general. The team is also not against modders and their projects in general. However, they are “100%” against pornographic mods.
What do the players say? The statement has met with some criticism on x.com from users. Not everyone can understand the studio’s position on this issue – including other developers:
- “If someone buys my game, they can do whatever they want with it,” believes Ian Fisch, an indie developer who oversees the game Kingmakers.
- “This is a pretty brilliant marketing strategy to completely turn people away from your game,” writes user GmanLives.
- “Looks like you’re allergic to money,” says Kurotesuta.
- “Instead of being afraid of mods, you should welcome the community that helps keep games alive long after their release – BG3 is a great example of this,” says Angel Stewart.
Particularly the last comment highlights that mods can be something very positive for many games. Older titles like Skyrim, for example, are still alive today because they are kept alive by community mods.
It seems that nothing will change the decision of the Code Violet development team. What do you think of the decision? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. Meanwhile, fans of Dino Crisis have been waiting for news and a sequel for years. There was even brief hope in the meantime, but it was in vain: Capcom is finally bringing another dino game for PS4, PS5 after 19 years – But it’s the wrong one
