Today the Nintendo Indie Direct took place, where smaller developers were also allowed to present their games. A title could only be seen in one country in the world – even though it will be released worldwide on Steam.
What kind of game is this? Demonschool is a tactical role-playing game where you have to fight demons while also mastering your school life. The gameplay is reminiscent of the JRPG Persona, but with a stronger focus on tactical combat:
- In school life, you have to plan your day to improve your characters’ skills. You can also build relationships with 15 characters.
- You have a planning phase during which you determine the actions of your characters. After that, they perform the actions. If you are dissatisfied, you can even rewind time.
- The story is said to contain slight horror elements. You find yourself on a mysterious island and have to deal with both the world of demons and the world of humans.
Today at the Indie Direct, the developers revealed when the game will be released. However, the announcement was only made in one country in the world, but players worldwide on PlayStation, Switch, and Steam can look forward to it soon.
Demonschool only reveals the release in Japan
When will the title be released? The release of the title was only seen in the Japanese version of the Indie World. Thus, the game will be released on September 3, 2025.
Why the announcement only occurred in Japan is not known. Neither the publisher nor the developer comes from Japan. A possible reason could be the popularity of Persona in Japan, as Demonschool is strongly reminiscent of the JRPG series in terms of gameplay.
How good is Demonschool? So far, there are no reviews yet as the title has not been released. However, there is a demo that you can check out before the release. You can download the demo on Steam.
The demo is said to last about 2-3 hours according to rpgfan.com – depending on how quickly you navigate through the days and how many side quests you complete. However, you will spend most of the demo time fighting demons.
Additionally, many comments on YouTube express how much they are looking forward to the game’s release.
