Final Fantasy XIV receives some balancing changes that primarily affect the attacker classes of the MMORPG. One of the two new jobs is so strong that all other attackers had to be adjusted.
Why did these changes have to be made? The Piktomant is one of the two new jobs introduced with Dawntrail in Final Fantasy XIV, alongside the Viper. The class has many spells with a long preparation time. Additionally, it does not have the ability to resurrect other players, even though it is a magical ranged attacker.
Therefore, the Piktomant should have been as strong as the Black Mage. However, the development team went overboard and made the job so strong that balancing changes followed.
According to the development team, there was a significant gap between the two jobs. Therefore, the Black Mage was strengthened. As a conclusion, all other ranged attacker classes are supposed to have been buffed as well.

What changes are there? The focus of the changes was primarily on the Samurai, the Viper, and the Black Mage:
- The Black Mage received not only buffs but also some nerfs. Blizzaga, for example, does less damage but does more damage over time. The same applies to High Blizz.
- The Viper had all abilities strengthened. It has received a total of 37 buffs.
- In contrast to the other attacker classes, the Samurai has only received nerfs affecting direct damage. Many of its attack values have been reduced. At least 12 abilities have been negatively affected.
In addition, many other attacker classes like the Red Mage, the Summoner, or the Ninja have been improved. If you want to see the full patch notes, you should visit the official page of Square Enix.
When will the changes come? The balancing changes will come with Patch 7.05. The patch will be rolled out at that time, starting on July 31, 2024, at 9:30 AM.
