In daily life, I have used a completely normal gaming mouse for many years, which I have used for both gaming and work. However, in the long run, it has put more strain on my right arm than I thought.
A recommendation back then from an acquaintance: Get yourself a vertical mouse; it makes working much more pleasant. At the beginning of 2023, I bought the Logitech Lift on sale. I have been using it almost continuously for nearly 3 years now. And I would buy the mouse again at any time.
A vertical mouse relieves arm and hand, makes working in the office easier
What kind of mouse is this? The Logitech Lift is a vertical mouse and thus shaped differently than normal gaming or office mice you usually use at your PC.
Vertical mice have a significant advantage: they provide a more natural posture at the desk. The strain on the forearm, wrist, and shoulder is significantly reduced, and you can reduce health risks. And that should not be underestimated. As someone who spends 8 to 10 hours at the desk daily, I can confirm that switching to a vertical mouse has really paid off.
An advantage that I have specifically appreciated about the Logitech Lift: the replaceable battery in the mouse.
Does the mouse have a disadvantage? Yes, and that is the relatively long adjustment period. At first, it takes time to get used to the strange posture. And even your thumb has to do significantly more work at the beginning than with a normal mouse.
Another disadvantage that should not be underestimated: In gaming, the Logitech Lift is only partially usable: While it is a great help in my daily life, I switch to a “real” gaming mouse for gaming. At the latest in a fast shooter like Marvel: Rivals, the Logitech Lift is simply not precise enough for me. In slower games, such as Anno 1800, the Lift is quite usable.
Most vertical mice are not really suitable for competitive gaming, with one exception: Razer’s Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition offers fantastic gaming technology, but in the detailed test for MeinMMO it was overall too heavy for long gaming sessions.
Where can you buy the mouse? Currently, you can get the Vertical Lift for 39.90 Euro at Amazon, and that is almost the best price for the mouse. Only in March 2025 did the mouse cost 1 Euro less. With this deal, you can’t go wrong.
What alternatives are there? Aside from Logitech and Razer’s model, there are also plenty of cheaper alternatives, from CSL, Anker, or Trust, all costing between 15 and 25 Euro.
