Battlefield 6 is getting a Battle Royale and the first leaks even interest fans of the regular multiplayer.
What is this leak? On September 10, EA announced that the Battle Royale of Battlefield 6 is now available for the first players to test at Battlefield Labs. These testers have since been sharing images, videos, and impressions from their first hours in the mode.
To participate in the Battlefield Labs, players must sign a non-disclosure agreement, which means they aren’t really allowed to post videos and similar content – many do it anyway and leak the currently “secret” gameplay.
Leak shows Levolution through a skyscraper
What does the leak show? The leak, which was posted as a short video clip on Reddit, shows the destruction of a skyscraper. It looks like classic, Battlefield-style Levolution: An artillery strike brings the entire building down.
Levolution describes events that change a map and its gameplay. A classic example is the C-flag in Conquest on “Siege of Shanghai” in Battlefield 4. At the center of the flag stands a skyscraper that completely collapses. This affects the flag itself, but also how the surrounding area is played.
Something similar might also be possible with the collapsing building in the Battle Royale of Battlefield 6. Before the collapse, the building could be a good position for snipers, among other things. After the collapse, the elevated position and sightlines are likely missing.
What does the community say about the leak? The clip is well received by the Battlefield community. Within 14 hours, the post gathered over 7,400 upvotes. However, many players are wondering if they will see this kind of destruction in the multiplayer of the base game.
MeinMMO editor Dariusz was a bit skeptical about the destruction after the first test of the multiplayer in July and the subsequent beta. He finds it good, but EA needs to be careful not to promise too much: In Battlefield 6, you should be able to lay everything to waste – I tested the destruction but remain skeptical
