In its latest DLC, Remnant II really goes all out: The Dark Horizon sends you into a dark sci-fi world inhabited by dangerous robots from a long-forgotten civilization.
What kind of game is this? Remnant II is a third-person shooter with a game world that offers a mix of sci-fi and dark fantasy. You can play the game either solo or with up to three players; unlike other Soulslikes, Remnant II has a strong focus on co-op.
The sci-fi elements of the game are nowhere more apparent than in The Dark Horizon, the latest and, according to the developers, the last DLC for Remnant II. In the launch trailer, the game showcases a range of futuristic devices – some of which are friendly, but many are not.

What does the trailer show? The Dark Horizon takes place in a new world within the already known area of N’Erud. This place is a gigantic construction of the Drzyr, a technologically advanced civilization that has long since vanished.
Helpful Drones and Many New Enemies
The new DLC area is inhabited by machine beings, some of which you can use for yourself. With the gliders, you can quickly travel through the inhospitable landscape; other drones help you directly in battle, for example, with a shield.
However, most inhabitants of this world are likely to have their sights set on you. Enemies of varying sizes will confront you, from humanoid robots to a massive mechanical spider. The design of the creatures also emphasizes a creepy sci-fi aesthetic.
In the comments under the trailer on YouTube, many draw a comparison to the Reapers from the Mass Effect series. The narrator’s voice in the trailer referring to your character as a “Carbon-based lifeform” shows that it does not have a very positive view of humans.
When will the DLC be released? It has already been released on September 24, 2024. Platforms include PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
