What exactly did the student do?
- The student created a fake email address in her teacher’s name. She pretended to be the teacher and wrote to her mother that the school would remain closed.
- In the school app, the student pretended to be her own mother. Here she wrote that her daughter was sick.
- She then repeatedly sent the school administration a doctor’s certificate from the doctor. This was supposed to confirm her illness so that no one would become suspicious.
How did it end? The principal became suspicious and called the student’s doctor’s practice. Eventually, the principal noticed: The date on the certificate had been changed.
During the phone call, it emerged that the student had forged the certificates. She was never actually sick. She simply did not attend school for two months. The whole matter was probably not noticed at first because the student had recently changed schools.
The whole action is likely to have consequences for the student. Forging certificates is considered forgery, and that is a criminal offense: it is punishable by up to 5 years in prison or a fine.
