From June 27 to July 11, 2024, Steam attracted with numerous offers again. The Summer Sale featured many interesting titles, some of which were drastically reduced. A developer team is now pleased that their game has sold particularly well.
Which title is it about? Frostpunk has sold frequently in the current Steam Summer Sale. The title was released on April 24, 2018, and has left a very positive impression on players with 92% among 88,725 ratings on Steam.
- Frostpunk is set in a post-apocalyptic world. We must ensure that the last city on Earth survives.
- In doing so, we must make tough decisions to secure the survival of the community. Often, our compassion conflicts with rational decisions.
- In our decisions, we need to be careful that the community’s morale does not plummet. Their needs should be taken into account.
Since its release, there have been several free and paid expansions. The latter are available via the Season Pass. Thanks to the discount in the Steam Sale, many new players seem to have discovered Frostpunk to help their citizens survive the harsh winter.
Meanwhile, a sequel to Frostpunk has been announced. Check out the latest trailer here:
Frostpunk becomes a sales hit at the Steam Summer Sale
How many times has Frostpunk been sold? The Polish developer team from 11 bit studios is pleased in a tweet that Frostpunk has sold over 400,000 copies during the Steam Summer Sale. This means that a copy was sold every 2.3 seconds.
Due to the high sales figures, the number of players on Steam increased fivefold. According to SteamDB, there were only 2,335 players in Frostpunk before the start of the sale. Shortly after the start, the player count rose to 10,650.
Why has it sold so many times? There are probably two reasons why Frostpunk has sold so much:
- On the one hand, the game was available at a phenomenal price of only 2.99 euros. Even the Game of the Year edition was available at a price of 10.65 euros. The regular price is 29.99 euros, and the GOTY edition costs 45.46 euros.
- Players might be preparing for the release of Frostpunk 2, which is set for 2024. Editor-in-chief Leya was able to test the title and immediately failed.
Frostpunk 2 will do some things differently than the first part. We plan the city in districts instead of micromanaging individual buildings. Additionally, there will no longer be an autocratic regime; however, we will still make the final decision. You can find all further information about the title on MeinMMO: Anyone who wants to struggle with tough decisions should definitely play Frostpunk 2.
