A fan of colorful building blocks applied to LEGO and was supposed to prove his creativity during the job interview. His mini diorama impressed the community so much that he got the job.
What was the task during the job interview? Anyone applying for a sales position at LEGO apparently has to master more than just a simple job interview at some branches. At least, Zealousideal-Many-40 reports on Reddit that he was supposed to spontaneously create something of his own from a bowl full of bricks.
Since the long-time LEGO fan was allowed to take his work home after the interview, he proudly presented it a little later on Reddit:
At that time, he did not yet know whether he would get the job. However, the community did not let that stop them from celebrating the small mini diorama with the slimy explorer – with over 17,000 upvotes and more than 200 comments.
Some even suggested that he should apply as a designer or work his way up to that position. The set would be great; if it hit the shelves, they would buy it.
In the comments, Zealousideal-Many-40 explained that he was tired of working in a restaurant. Since there is a LEGO branch near his university, he just wanted to give it a try. Maybe after graduation, something will come up with a designer role.
Creativity that pays off
How does the story end? A few weeks later, Zealousideal-Many-40 spoke up again on Reddit, this time accompanied by a picture showing him happily in a new LEGO apron. He got the job! In his post, he explains:
I didn’t expect my last post to have such an impact! I just wanted to let you know that I made it!! Thank you so much for your support and kind words.
This post even received over 36,000 thumbs up and more than 380 comments.

For some, this is a nice example that it doesn’t always come down to a perfect resume and experience. Sometimes spontaneity and creativity are enough to land your dream job.
