A company has introduced a new cooling system for the PS5. However, it is not exactly cheap and requires a lot of skill.
Powerful hardware is known to produce waste heat. Sony itself stated that the PS5 is also large because of a good cooling system. However, not everyone is satisfied with the cooling performance, as the console can still get very hot. If you still have a noisy PS4: we have 6 tips on what you can do against a loud and hot PS4.
A company has now introduced a product that is supposed to take care of the cooling. However, the system from EK Water Blocks is not exactly cheap.
Water cooling and new case for PS5 hardware
What kind of product is this? This solution comes from EK Water Blocks, a company specializing in the development of liquid cooling devices. It consists of
- a water block
- a microATX case
- a range of additional hardware like pumps and fans
However, you will need to completely disassemble your PS5 console for this. You cannot use the cooling block in the old case of the PS5. You can see what the new case looks like in the manufacturer’s YouTube video:
What are the requirements? First of all, you need to completely disassemble your console. However, this also means that you have to say goodbye to the warranty if your console is still very new. If you are tempted to do the conversion, you should at least wait until your warranty from the manufacturer has expired.
Another problem is that the manufacturer only recommends this conversion for the digital model of the PS5. Because with a disk drive, you would have to take an additional step at each startup of the console. This already limits the system to a few models.
“New” model is significantly larger and bulkier
Moreover, the “new” PS5 is significantly larger and bulkier and resembles a large gaming PC in its structure. Whether many gamers will appreciate that the PS5 is now even larger for somewhat less heat is questionable.
When can you buy the upgrade? The manufacturer states that the kit is already available for purchase and delivery will begin at the end of October. For many players, however, the regular PS5 will likely remain the best option.
