Recently, there have been some major updates in Pokémon GO. A recent change has made raids much harder than you are used to.
What updates are involved? Recently, there have been extensive changes to the raid system in Pokémon GO, which have brought significant modifications to the charged attacks and also some changes to the raid bosses.
One of these changes to the raid bosses has now been adjusted again according to several posts on Reddit and partially brought back to its original form. This leads to unusually strong raid bosses.
Charged attacks, charged attacks everywhere
What is this change? One change in the major update is that raid bosses can generate energy much slower. Energy is needed for the raid bosses to execute their charged attacks.
Additionally, charged attacks have been adjusted to be executed immediately when a boss has enough energy. This was not the case before, so bosses did not execute a charged attack immediately despite having sufficient energy.
The energy that raid bosses generate from your attacks has reportedly been changed back to its original value according to several users on Reddit. This, in combination with the ongoing change that charged attacks are used immediately, means that bosses continuously use charged attacks.
User RoxieTheWeirdo commented on this in this post on Reddit:
Essentially, Niantic has made it so that raid bosses generate 2500% more energy when they take damage (0.02 -> 0.5 in the game code), making their charged attacks essentially their instant attacks, as the charged attacks are almost always available.
What does the community say about this? Several trainers on Reddit share their current views on this topic.
It’s absolutely broken at the moment
, says DriedPasta_[..] Raids have been getting easier over the years as they added party play and other bonuses… I always expected they would eventually make them harder. But this is ridiculous…
, writes BCHiker7It’s even worse now. You rarely see the animation or the text on the side. It felt like Kyogre (Blizzard) was executing more charged attacks than instant attacks

Will the changes remain? So far, there has been no reaction from Niantic on this issue. Whether this is a planned change, a temporary test, or a bug is not known.
