In Pokémon GO, some trainers finally made progress on an age-old research. But after the initial joy came disappointment, as the next part might take some time.
What kind of research is this? It is about the research “More about Meltan”, which first appeared in 2018. It revolves around the Pokémon that gives it its name, which can also be obtained as a final reward for the research.
The problem: Throughout the research, one has to catch monsters like Ditto, Tragosso, or various fossil Pokémon – and that can be very difficult if they simply don’t show up.
Therefore, trainers sometimes get stuck in the research for a long time after they have received it. Currently, the research is being discussed again.
Finally caught Tragosso – But what now?
Players report: In the Pokémon GO subreddit, a user shared a seemingly pleasant development: Thanks to the current “Diá de Muertos” event, one was finally able to catch a Tragosso again. This led to several trainers being able to complete stage 7 of the old Meltan research, as the comments show.
But right after that came the next shock, as the next rare monsters await at stage 8. One has to catch the following Pokémon:
- Two Kabuto or Amonitas
- Two Liliep or Anorith
- One Aerodactyl
However, the fossil monsters are notoriously rare and often can only be caught during specific events. Therefore, trainers are already seeing the next test of patience coming:
- “Why does every part of this research hurt so much?”, writes user xerim in their post (via reddit).
- “I’m still stuck on the Ditto task”, writes user Big-Weakness (via reddit).
- “Ah, as I see, another collector caught their Tragosso today, only to be hit by this disappointment”, comments user ConfrontationalLemon (via reddit).
- “Same here. I’m shocked”, writes another one (via reddit).
In the further comments, trainers discuss the research. Some emphasize that it was easier to catch the monsters back when the research was released. Others mention that there are fossil events that can help with this task – at least if one can notice them in time.
Some also refer to field researches that can help with this task by providing the necessary monsters. But one has to find those first.
In fact, there are some researches that are very long-term or take a long time because certain monsters are needed for them. One classic among them is, for example, the research that requires a snapshot of the monsters Demeteros, Boreos, and Voltolos – they aren’t always available either.
