A recent survey from us on MeinMMO has shown that almost all participants already know which game they will buy in September 2019: Destiny 2 Shadowkeep or Borderlands 3.
This is what we wanted to know: After the release date of Destiny 2 Shadowkeep was announced, we wanted to know from our readers on June 7:
- Which of the two loot shooters will you buy in September 2019? Shadowkeep or Borderlands 3?
- Does it affect you that both release dates are so close together?
The survey appeared as an article on MeinMMO – the survey participants had to access it and decide for themselves whether to participate in the survey. They could only give one answer to both questions.
How many participated in the survey? About 3300 readers saw the survey. Just over 800 readers participated in the survey. So a respectable amount.
This is the surprising part: We were surprised that 96% of readers already know how they will decide in September. Only 1 in 25 chose the option “I don’t know yet and will decide later” (4%).
This means that most users have already made a purchasing decision, even though not much is known about both games yet and the presentations are still ongoing.
But apparently both franchises are so well established that the purchase decision for many was made long before the release.
Borderlands 3 vs. Destiny 2 Shadowkeep: Who is leading?
These are the results:
- On our site, 42% said, “I will buy Destiny 2 Shadowkeep”
- 29% said, “I will buy Borderlands 3”
- 22% chose “I will buy both titles”
- Only 3% said, “I will buy neither of the two titles.”
- 4% answered “I will decide later”
What about the closeness of the release date? Borderlands 3 will be released on September 13. Destiny 2 Shadowkeep has now been postponed to October 1.
- For 74% of our readers, the close release dates of both games did not influence their purchasing decision
- 13% said that they will not buy Borderlands 3 because of the tight schedule
- 13% said that they will not buy Destiny 2 Shadowkeep because of the tight schedule
