Place 3: Glorfindel
And yet another Elf from the category “Very important in the book, nearly nonexistent in the film.” Glorfindel lived in Middle-earth during the First and later in the Third Age and possesses extensive experience.
As a leader of armies, he won many battles. One of his greatest deeds is probably his victory against a Balrog, which he faced alone. Glorfindel managed to defeat him but died in the process. After his death, he was sent back to Middle-earth to continue fighting against Sauron.
This return alone demonstrates how powerful the Elf is. Presumably, he was also involved in the final battle against Sauron. Years later, he stayed in Rivendell and served with his wisdom. Unlike in the film, it was Glorfindel who saved Frodo from the Nazgûl – not Arwen. The Elf appears in the third film at the coronation of Aragorn and Arwen, and probably also in part 1 at Elrond’s council.
