Place 4: Gil-galad
Gil-galad is another character that Peter Jackson’s films neglect. Nevertheless, he is briefly visible right at the beginning in the prologue. He also appears more in the series “The Rings of Power.”
Gil-galad is the last High King of the Noldor Elves. For a time, he was the bearer of the Ring of Air, known as Vilya. This was one of the three Elven rings, granting its user immense power. In battle, the Elf fights with his spear, which causes much fear and dread among his enemies.
This includes especially the Orcs and other foul creatures he fought against many times over the years to stand up to Sauron. In the decisive battle of Dagorlad, the man Isildur was able to obtain the One Ring and seemingly defeat Sauron – however, Gil-galad fell during the battle. And with him one of the most impressive Elves in Middle-earth.
