Place 8: Arwen
Arwen is the daughter of Elrond and Celebrían, making her the granddaughter of Galadriel. Celebrían is indeed the daughter of the powerful lady of Lothlórien.
For family reasons alone, she is very wise. She also had the choice between immortality and a mortal life alongside Aragorn – she chose the latter.
Arwen lands in 9th place mainly because her role in the books and films differs somewhat. In the original, she is relatively passive. Strong and much more present, she primarily appears in the film adaptation of “The Fellowship.” She grabs a sword and defends Frodo against the Nazgûl before taking him to Rivendell to her father, where his wounds can be treated.
Arwen was also supposed to appear in the Battle of Helm’s Deep. Thus, her role in the films is significantly more extensive. It is not the only change compared to the literary source. All in all, Arwen is an important figure in the story, ultimately becoming the queen of Gondor beside Aragorn by the end of part 3.
