Maladomini is the hell layer of ambition and the tyranny of perfectionism. It is a place of endless, pointless work and desperate striving for an unattainable ideal that inevitably drives everything to ruin.
Its ruler is Baalzebul, the Lord of Flies, a former archon from Celestia, formerly known as Triel. He received the title because his webs of intrigue were so tightly woven that even flies could not escape. However, his ambition drove him to seize the crown of hell and challenge Asmodeus in his reign.
When Asmodeus discovered his betrayal, he punished him with a curse: Every time Baalzebul tells a lie, he transforms into a slug-like creature whose appearance even repulses devils. This appearance also earned him the title of Slug Archduke.
Driven by his mad quest for unattainable perfection, Baalzebul relentlessly constructs new cities and palaces, only to tear them down just before completion because they do not meet his impossible ideal. The hell layer is therefore littered with garbage, rubble, and countless ruins from which a tar-like liquid seeps.
