The “Korea-WoW” ASTA – barely alive and already dead again!
The online role-playing game ASTA: The War of Tears and Wind – was known as the “Korean World of Warcraft.” However, long-term success eluded the game. It was permanently shut down by the publisher Webzen on October 4, 2016 due to poor player numbers. But then the publisher Move Games tried again, and on April 26, 2017, ASTA returned to Steam as a Free2Play MMORPG! Only to receive the kiss of death again shortly thereafter.
You only die twice
In the fiercely competitive Free2Play market, ASTA had no chance. Therefore, the new publisher Move Games soon had to throw in the towel and reluctantly announce the second end of ASTA. Despite their great efforts, they failed to attract enough players and create a economically successful MMO.
Therefore, ASTA is supposed to die again on December 8. The developers hope that players will enjoy the last days of the game. Any microtransactions should be refunded via Steam.
Whether ASTA will be resurrected a third time after its second demise remains highly doubtful.
The next game is again a Korean MMO that died twice in a year.
ELOA – Zombies don’t have it easy either
The Korean online role-playing game ELOA “Elite Lords of Alliance” was probably less elite than its name promised. After launching in November 2015, it was all over by September 2016. The player counts were too low; the game was no longer profitable for the publisher and was shut down.
Restart was a short fun!
In November 2016, however, the miraculous resurrection from the dead occurred! A new publisher wanted to lead the revived action MMORPG to the success it deserved. And failed! Not even a year later, on August 11, 2017, ELOA had to pull the plug again.
The last message was just a rather fatalistic “Thank you, and we apologize if this caused any inconvenience.” ELOA was an action MMO that mixed elements from Diablo with an MMO and focused on a dark atmosphere.
Here too, a resurrection seems unlikely.

Wander – It died quietly and alone
Wander was released in 2015 for PC and PlayStation 4 and was an unusual MMO. The game completely forwent combat and violence. Instead, you were supposed to explore and investigate an exotic island world.

The concept of a pacifist MMO was not actually the major problem with Wander. Rather, the game was a colossal bugfest. There were an unfathomable number of ridiculous bugs! There are videos of avatars who only want to jump into the water but slide over the surface in bizarre poses and then fall victim to weightlessness, sailing helplessly through the air.
This led to considerable discontent among PS4 players. They wondered how this bug-infested game was able to even pass Sony’s certification. In any case, players punished it with an absurdly low rating of 28 points on Metacritic and the dubious title of the worst MMO on the PlayStation 4.
All over, even Free2Play does nothing anymore
Back then, they were still remorseful, assuring that they would somehow save this catastrophe. However, since September 2015, nothing has changed. Since then, hardly anything was heard from Wander until on August 9, 2017, the game suddenly disappeared from Steam.
The developers stated that they were sorry. They would have liked to bring Wander as a Free2Play game. But an agreement with Crytek, from whom the used CryEngine originated, would prevent this. Furthermore, it was only said: “Thank you to all wanderers and apologies.”
Thus, the “worst MMO on the PS4” is probably history.
