A new discussion has broken out among fans of 7 vs. Wild. According to the latest data, it is currently receiving less favorable reactions than previous seasons, although many fans find it particularly good right now.
What is being discussed? Since the botched announcement of 7 vs. Wild Season 5, many fans have expressed significant concerns about the presentation of the series. YouTuber Klengan recently explained in a viral video what went wrong this year.
A fan has now utilized publicly available Google Trends data and compared it with previous seasons. The Google Trends data shows how many people are searching for a certain topic or search term.
In a screenshot on Reddit, the user has shown how the data from the latest season compares to previous ones. The Amazon season reaches only about a third of the search volume of earlier seasons.
The view counts on the YouTube videos are also lower than in previous seasons. While many viewers watch 7 vs. Wild on Amazon Prime Video, the hype around the series was bigger in previous years. Yet, fans actually like it particularly well this year.
Do you still remember Knossi?
Actually a good season, but …
Why is the season good? 7 vs. Wild Amazon is factually a good season because it offers what fans have wanted to see for years: bushcrafting, alternating locations, diverse animals, weather changes from warm to cold, no conflict within the group, and a hard survival routine.
Although 7 vs. Wild Amazon is not the hardest survival experience, as the trailer promised, the new season demands a lot from the participants, and with the constant changes of location, simply sitting out is impossible.
This is also how many fans see it, who have praised the new season for weeks. Yet, the numbers on YouTube and Google Trends are against the new season, but fans have an explanation for that.
What is it about? According to fans on Reddit, since Fritz Meinecke’s departure, the production has poorly managed the promotional phase. This apparently began with posting the participants without prior announcement on Instagram, and continued with posting a trailer that turned out not to be one. Thus, viewers explain on Reddit:
- Lexonyi: “I miss the prep episodes of the participants. It’s clear that they generated great attention.”
- LittleRunaway868: “It’s undeniable that at least in the PR part, things have been done poorly in this season. Are there people denying this?”
- Weedalf: “I think the marketing on Amazon is also to blame. I find 7vsWild was particularly captivating because it was relevant all over YouTube. Direct exchange about the episodes in the comments, reactions with additional value, where experts shared extra knowledge, the reactions of the participants, where you could dive back in, etc. Now, 7vsWild can’t really be repurposed. You watch the episode, and that’s it.”
- Redhit-Kit: “I’m not a fan of influencers. Didn’t even know a Knossi. But it’s undeniable that the participants from previous seasons were simply much more entertaining, and they garnered more media attention. This season feels like two scouts with their Catholic kids in the woods.”
For fans, it’s clear that the preparation and promotional phase of 7 vs. Wild went anything but well in Season 5, and not enough attention and anticipation for the season was generated. Whether 7 vs. Wild really performed worse can’t be definitively determined, as the view counts from Prime Video are not publicly available.
7 vs. Wild has become a sort of autumn and winter tradition for many fans. Although the season gets many things right, it seems that the production is not rewarded for it. It remains to be seen whether next year will be better or if another new season will even come. The major scandal of the season has at least been clarified: A contestant from 7 vs. Wild defends against allegations of theft, stating that they only borrowed the equipment
