It should be no surprise that the One Ring lands in first place. Although it differs in size, appearance, and type of weapon from the other examples on this list, the One Ring is undeniably a weapon that surpasses all others.
Forged by Sauron, the Ring was cut from Isildur’s hand, then passed into the possession of various characters like Gollum or Bilbo before finally being given to Frodo. Who bears the One Ring can become invisible, manipulate other beings, and rule over them, gain overwhelming power, and thus potentially dominate Middle-earth.
The downside, of course, is that the One Ring corrupts its bearer and takes possession of him. Only a few are strong enough to resist this influence. Therefore, figures like Gandalf or Galadriel are wary of even touching it.
The Ring may seem inconspicuous at first glance, but it is undoubtedly the most powerful weapon ever created in Middle-earth. All the more important it is to destroy it before great harm can be done.
