Rank 2: Staves of the Istari

In The Lord of the Rings, we see Gandalf and Saruman with their staffs. They are part of the five Istari sent to Middle-earth to stop evil in the form of Sauron. Primarily, they carry their staff as a weapon – as mentioned earlier, Gandalf also fights with a sword.
However, the staff clearly indicates that this is a wizard. Apart from the appearance, these are naturally extremely powerful weapons capable of standing against the strongest beings from Middle-earth. Thus, Gandalf used his staff against the Balrog or drove the Nazgûl back.
Saruman uses it to throw his former ally Gandalf high into the air and incapacitate him – and that, despite Gandalf being at least Saruman’s equal. The snowstorm and thunderstorm that rain down on the Fellowship in the first part while they try to cross a mountain, Saruman conjures with his staff. And if the magical powers fail, a wizard can also use this weapon in close combat.
