Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X
What distinguishes Insurgency: Sandstorm? Similar to Battlefield, Insurgency: Sandstorm is also a hybrid of arcade shooter and military simulation, with the gunplay and movement being a bit more realistic in Insurgency. This also means a comparatively fast time-to-kill.
In return, you must forego large matches with over 60 players in Insurgency: Sandstorm; more than 28 is not possible in this shooter. However, this is a considerable step up from something like Call of Duty or other arena shooters. Despite the smaller player count, there are a variety of modes, some of which even allow the use of vehicles.
Squad
What distinguishes Squad? Squad is a military simulation that emphasizes realism and hardcore gameplay. This means you have few aids in the game that you might know from other shooters. Instead, the focus of the game is on immersion and the simulation of real combat. Accordingly, the weapon behavior is also demanding.
Similar to Arma, communication and tactical action are of great importance in Squad. If you don’t feel like talking to your comrades, you should stay away from Squad.
War Thunder
What distinguishes War Thunder? War Thunder is a free-to-play MMO in which players engage in large-scale battles in the air, water, and land using various military vehicles such as tanks, ships, and airplanes. There are no ordinary infantrymen; instead, there’s a wide selection of different vehicles.
The control of vehicles is somewhat simplified depending on the mode or poses the challenge of a simulation. There is also a middle ground. Ultimately, you have the choice of which variant you prefer.
The MMO is known for its realistic and detailed depiction of various vehicles. The developers make every effort to stay as true to real specifications as possible. However, this is not perfect, as the functioning ultimately involves military information that is often not publicly available. This does not prevent the game’s community from posting secret information in the game’s forums to win a discussion: War Thunder: Player allegedly leaks military secrets – claims to have found them during research
