Place 5: The Watcher in the Water
This eerie beast encounters the Fellowship on their way to the Mines of Moria. It lives in a lake and strongly resembles an octopus. Numerous tentacles possess immense strength. The Watcher usually lurks underwater and then strikes with lightning speed. No one knows how large the creature truly is.
Due to its few limbs, it can attack its opponents from many different angles and surprise them. Often, a strong blow from a tentacle is enough to take out an enemy. With larger enemies, the Watcher can wrap around them and simply crush them. In short: No one wants to encounter the Watcher, especially not alone – and those who survive the encounter are likely to struggle with nightmares later on.
