Reason 3: A Worried Look at the Console Versions
Speaking of technology: It is currently unclear what we can expect from the PS5 and Xbox versions of Crimson Desert. Until now, the focus of gameplay trailers and preview events has mostly been on the PC version of the game. Additionally, testers have only received PC access so far.
In light of problematic console launches like that of Cyberpunk 2077, the concerns of many players are understandable: Is someone trying to hide an inadequate port behind the significantly better PC version again?
According to the developers, this is not the case (how surprising). The team is reportedly still working on optimizations. However, details regarding the console versions should be released before the official release on March 19, 2026, so that interested players can make an informed decision for or against the purchase in advance.
It is already clear that Crimson Desert is set to support technical PS5 features such as Geometry Shader Oversubscription, NGG Culling, Raytracing, the DualSense controller, and Spectral Super Resolution. We hope to learn soon how this will impact the game.
By the time of the launch, colleagues from GamePro will take a look at the console versions of Crimson Desert and tell you whether there is a nasty surprise or not, and what advantages, for example, the PS5 Pro brings.
