Revivify
- Level 3 Necromancy Spell
- Artificer, Cleric, Druid (Optional), Paladin, Ranger (Optional)
The winner of this list is definitely the spell Revivify, which brings fallen allies back from the realm of the dead. However, not as an undead zombie, but completely, with intact intellect, body, and soul.
In Dungeons & Dragons, the spell must be cast within one minute after the person has died, otherwise it loses its effect. But that’s not all. Similar to Glyph of Warding, Revivify also requires a material component. This time it is again a diamond that must be worth at least 300 gold pieces and is destroyed upon use.
Of course, the life of a beloved and respected companion is worth more than can be measured with gold. Yet, the process of using Revivify in Baldur’s Gate 3 feels significantly more relaxed.
There, the time pressure and the expensive diamond requirement are absent. You only need a capable character, a level 3 spell slot, and nothing else. A significant upgrade, which does, however, slightly diminish the finality of death and disruption within the group. But in the universe of Dungeons & Dragons, there are few limits – but there are costs.
This list highlighted the significant differences in some spells in Baldur’s Gate 3 and proves that knowledge from one game cannot be completely transferred to the other – at least not one hundred percent. Anyone wanting to be sure which spells in Dungeons & Dragons require which components should check these in the rulebooks before making a hasty choice and preparing a spell that can be financially out of reach.
