The “Llamas with Hats” series deals with two llamas with hats who discuss the terrible deeds of one llama, Carl. Carl, the llama with the green hat, is a sociopathic murderer who commits terrible acts and seems unaware that this is problematic. The other llama, his friend Paul, is completely horrified by this.
The humor of the series arises from the fact that Carl’s murders and similarly terrible deeds always come to light, and he tries to talk his way out of them in an innocent but equally indifferent manner. Paul usually reacts with a horrified “CAAAARL”, which made this call and the series in general a meme and attained cult status.
Carl’s crimes include murder by 37 stab wounds, intentional shipwrecks, the overthrow of a South American government, cannibalism, and other acts that should not be mentioned in this article.
No matter how horrible the crimes of the llama are – the reaction of his friend is almost always the same: “… CAAAARL.”
